Who we are

ResumeSkip is operated by Jackalope Digital, LLC, a limited liability company organized in Colorado, United States. Questions about this policy: [email protected].

What we collect

Account information: the email you sign in with. We never store a password. We send a one-time code instead. Guest sign-up is no longer offered.

Resume data: the resumes you import or paste, saved as your resume bases, the job postings you provide, and the tailored resumes, cover letters, and interview prep we generate for you. If you use the browser extension, this includes job posting and LinkedIn profile text it reads from the page on your behalf — see "Browser extension" below.

Applications you add to the tracker (company, title, status, notes, follow-up dates).

Usage data: counts used to enforce free-tier limits, rate limits, and abuse controls.

Payment information: handled entirely by Polar, our payment provider and merchant of record. We never see or store your card number. We store a Polar customer/subscription id so we know your plan.

Marketing and lifecycle email: when you verify your account, your email is added to our marketing automation platform (Sequenzy) so we can send account-related email (for example, a heads-up when you're low on free runs or a 7-day pass is about to expire). If you separately subscribe to the newsletter, your email is added there too for occasional updates (~once a month). Every marketing email has a one-click unsubscribe.

Attribution: on your first visit, we note the referring site and any utm_source/utm_medium/utm_campaign link parameters in your browser's local storage. It stays device-only unless you answer the one-time "How did you find us?" prompt in the dashboard, at which point that first-touch data and your answer are attached to your account so we can read channel mix.

Messages you send through the contact form or in-app feedback.

How we use it

To provide the service: store your bases, generate tailored documents, keep usage within plan limits, and bill Pro or a 7-day pass.

To prevent abuse: device and email rate limits, referral fraud controls, and spend limits on AI usage.

To send you sign-in codes, account alerts (like a low-runs or pass-expiry heads-up), and the newsletter you subscribed to.

To reply to support messages you send us.

To compute the anonymized, aggregate benchmark described below.

We do not sell your data. We do not use your resume content, job postings, or generated documents to train any AI model, ours or a third party's.

AI processing

When you generate a tailored resume, cover letter, or interview prep, the resume text and the job description you provided are sent to a third-party AI provider solely to produce that result. The result is stored in your account so you can reopen, download, or share it.

We ask the model never to invent experience, skills, dates, or titles. You are still responsible for reviewing every document before you send it to an employer.

Browser extension

The ResumeSkip browser extension reads job posting text from a curated list of job boards and ATS sites you visit, and — only when you click its button — from a LinkedIn profile tab, so it can offer to tailor a resume or import that profile without you needing to copy and paste. On any other site, it only reads the page when you open the extension yourself. It never reads pages in the background or tracks the sites you visit.

On resumeskip.com itself, the extension adds a small "installed" marker to the page so the site can skip showing you install prompts for an extension you already have. It reads nothing from the page to do this and sends nothing anywhere.

That job posting or profile text is sent to our backend the moment you act on it (tailoring, or confirming an import) — the same handling as a resume you paste into the dashboard. A short-lived local handoff (cleared within minutes), your last-used resume base, and your tailor count for the ratings prompt stay on your device and are never transmitted.

The LinkedIn import button also appears on profiles that are not your own. Importing one sends that person's profile text and name to your account as a resume base or career context, the same as your own profile would be — only do this with a profile you have the right to use, such as your own or one you're preparing on someone's behalf with their permission.

The extension signs in with its own email one-time-code session, separate from your browser cookies for the website, stored only in the extension's own local storage.

Anonymized aggregate benchmark

Every tailoring run produces a deterministic ATS match score, and every application you track has a status (applied, interview, offer, rejected). A weekly job aggregates these across all included users into two things: the public match-score report at /resume-stats, and an internal callback-rate benchmark comparing outcomes for resumes above and below a 50% match score.

What actually leaves your account for this: a numeric match score and an application status. Never your resume text, the job posting, the company or job title, or your identity. Those are dropped before the aggregate is computed, and none of it is stored alongside the resulting numbers.

We use the resulting aggregate numbers, not your content, to decide whether our prompts and scoring logic are actually producing better outcomes over time, and to keep the public benchmark current. This is not model training: no individual user's resume or generated content is used to fine-tune any model.

You're included by default; you can opt out any time from Dashboard → Account ("Help improve ResumeSkip"). Opting out excludes your future generations and applications starting with the next weekly computation. It does not retroactively remove numbers already folded into a past snapshot, since those snapshots never stored anything traceable back to you.

Third parties

Convex, our application and database host.

Cloudflare, our website host and content delivery network. It also runs Turnstile, a CAPTCHA-free bot check on sign-in and newsletter sign-up: your browser solves a background challenge and we send the resulting token to Cloudflare to verify before the action goes through.

Our AI provider, used to generate your tailored resumes, cover letters, and interview prep.

Polar, our merchant of record, for payments, billing, and sales tax.

Our email provider, used to send sign-in codes and account alerts.

Sequenzy, our marketing platform. Your email is added there when you verify your account or subscribe to the newsletter, so we can send account alerts and the newsletter through it. Unsubscribing from marketing email updates your record there too.

PostHog, our product analytics provider. It records a small set of product events (sign-in, generate, upgrade) and page views. Once you're signed in, it identifies you by user id, email, and plan so we can see the path from signup to upgrade; before sign-in it only sees anonymous page views and events. Autocapture and session recording are off. It is not used to sell ads.

Google Analytics, used to analyze website traffic and product usage patterns (such as page views and feature usage) to understand site performance and user engagement. It collects standard browser telemetry and usage metrics.

Cookies and local storage

We use cookies and local storage for authentication, security (a device identifier to rate-limit sign-in attempts), referral attribution, and analytics (Google Analytics and PostHog). We do not use third-party advertising cookies or sell personal data.

Sharing and public pages

Nothing is published unless you choose to share a result. A share link (`/r/…`) is a public, noindexed page that shows the generated text (and, if you were Pro when it was generated, the scorecard).

Retention and your rights

Your resume bases, generations, and applications stay until you delete them or delete your account. You can delete any base from the dashboard. You can delete your entire account from Dashboard → Account. That removes your resumes, generated documents, applications, usage, and referral records.

If you have an active Pro subscription, cancel it first (Manage plan) so Polar does not keep billing you.

Get a copy of your data any time from Dashboard → Account ("Download my data") — it downloads your profile, resume bases, generations, applications, usage, subscription, and referral record as a JSON file. You can also email [email protected] to request a copy.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, we will update this page and the effective date above.
