Troubleshooting Checklist
- Pin the ResumeSkip Extension to Your Toolbar: In Google Chrome or Brave, click the puzzle piece icon in your top-right browser toolbar, locate ResumeSkip, and click the pin icon so the extension remains accessible.
- Refresh Single-Page Job Applications (LinkedIn, Workday): Single-page web applications update URLs without reloading DOM elements. If the extension does not detect the active job description, refresh the browser tab.
- Check Extension Permissions & Site Access: Right-click the ResumeSkip extension icon, select 'Manage Extension', and ensure site access is set to allow the side panel to read job posting text on your active tab.
- Use Manual Text Paste Fallback for Sandboxed Pages: If an employer uses a secure internal intranet or sandboxed iframe that blocks browser extensions, copy the job description text manually and paste it into the extension side panel or web dashboard.
Account Sync and Shared Quotas
The browser extension connects directly to your ResumeSkip account. It uses the exact same quota pool as your web dashboard: 10 free tailored runs every 30 days on the Free plan, or unlimited runs on the 7-day pass and Pro subscription.
All base resumes, custom versions, and career context you save in your web dashboard appear immediately in the extension dropdown selector.
Why Some Custom Portals Require Manual Paste
Some enterprise portals render job descriptions inside sandboxed iframes or PDF viewers that block browser extensions from reading text for security reasons.
In these rare instances, copy the job description text manually and paste it directly into the extension side panel or your ResumeSkip dashboard workspace.
Privacy and On-Device Security
The extension only inspects the job listing text on your active tab when you explicitly open the side panel. It never tracks your browsing history, runs in background tabs, or collects personal data.
