Why Did My Tailoring, Cover Letter, or Interview Prep Run Fail?

Understand the error messages a run can return, what each one means, and how to get a clean result.

A Failed Run Does Not Cost You a Credit

If a run ends with a red error message instead of a result, no free run is deducted. You can fix the cause and try again right away. The card stays in your workspace so you do not lose your inputs.

Common Messages and What To Do

  • 'The service is at capacity right now. Please try again in a few minutes.' The AI provider is briefly overloaded. Wait 2 to 3 minutes and rerun. Nothing is wrong with your resume.
  • 'You're tailoring very quickly. Please wait a few minutes and try again.' An abuse-protection rate limit, applied to every account. Space your runs out and it clears on its own.
  • 'This resume ran long for the AI service. Trim the base resume slightly and try again.' Your base resume is very long. Open it, remove an old role or an oversized skills dump, save, and rerun.
  • 'Paste the full job description so the tailoring has enough to work with.' The posting text was too short. Paste the entire description (or the job URL) rather than just the title and a line or two.
  • 'The job description is too large to process.' Trim the posting down to the role summary, responsibilities, and requirements. Company boilerplate and legal text are not needed.
  • 'The tailoring service kept altering required details on this run.' A safety check caught the model changing protected facts (dates, titles, employers) and stopped rather than ship an inaccurate resume. Just run it again.
  • '... returned an empty result. Try again.' A transient provider glitch on cover letters, interview prep, or a section re-roll. Rerun once.
  • 'Free plan allows 10 tailored versions per 30 days.' You have used your quota. See the pricing article for the 7-day pass, Pro, or when your free runs refill.

If the Whole Page Shows 'Something Went Wrong'

That is the app's safety net for an unexpected browser error, not a lost resume. Your saved base resumes and past results are safe on your account.

Click 'Reload page' first; it clears most cases. If it happens again, an ad blocker, privacy extension, or script blocker is often the cause, so try again in a private or incognito window with extensions disabled.

If it still repeats, click 'Report this error' on that screen. It sends us the details with one click so we can look into it. No typing needed.
