How to Track Job Applications and Set Follow-Up Reminders

Organize your job search with our Kanban board, link tailored resume versions, and schedule email follow-up reminders.

The Application Tracker Kanban Pipeline

The Application Tracker organizes every job application into five columns. Drag a card between columns to update its status:

  • Ready to apply: You have tailored a resume for this posting but not submitted it yet.
  • Applied: Application submitted with your tailored resume.
  • Interview: A recruiter reached out, or a screen or interview is scheduled (recruiter screens fold into this column).
  • Offer: You received a formal offer.
  • Closed: The role ended. Each card has one big button for the next step ('I applied', 'Got an interview', 'Got an offer', 'Took the job'), plus a 'Not moving forward?' action to close it as not selected, so your win count stays accurate.

Linking Tailored Resumes

Whenever you tailor a resume for a job posting, ResumeSkip automatically links that specific generated file to the application card in your tracker.

When a recruiter calls you weeks later, you can instantly see the exact bullet points and keyword matches you submitted.

Setting Follow-Up Reminders

Data shows that following up with a recruiter 5 to 7 business days after applying increases callback rates significantly.

Open any application card, choose a follow-up reminder (3 days, 1 week, 2 weeks, 1 month, or a custom date), and ResumeSkip emails you when it is due. You can also generate a pre-written follow-up email with one click.
