Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to common questions about resume tailoring, ATS formatting, extensions, pricing, and privacy.
Does tailoring a resume actually get more interviews?
Yes. In an NBER field experiment with ~500,000 job seekers, tailoring led to 8% more hires, 7.8% more job offers, and 8.4% higher starting wages. TalentWorks tracking data found that matching half or more of a posting's requirements lifted callbacks 2.8x, from 4.2% to 11.7%.
Is ResumeSkip free?
Yes. Free covers 10 saved base resumes and 10 tailored resumes every 30 days, with Word, PDF, and text downloads and the application tracker. Pro and the 7-day pass add cover letters, interview prep, the full ATS match scorecard, the History Quiz, all 7 templates, and unlimited runs.
Will an applicant tracking system (ATS) reject an AI tailored resume?
No. ATS software parses text formatting and keyword matches; it cannot detect whether you used a tool to format or tailor your resume. However, generic tools that hallucinate skills or output multi-column layouts can hurt you during screening. ResumeSkip avoids this by strictly generating single-column documents using only your real experience.
How fast does ResumeSkip tailor a resume?
About 60 seconds. Import your resume or paste your LinkedIn profile once, drop in any job posting or URL, and download an ATS-ready Word (.docx), PDF, or text file ready to submit.
I just graduated and don't have a resume yet. Can I still use this?
Yes. Skip the file upload and paste your LinkedIn profile text instead: your education, projects, part-time jobs, internships, and volunteer work all count. ResumeSkip turns that into a reusable resume, then tailors it for each posting.
How does tailoring keep my resume truthful?
ResumeSkip never invents experience, skills, dates, or titles. It reorders, rephrases, and emphasizes what is already in your resume, and only uses a posting's keywords where you genuinely have that experience. Read every document before you send it.
What does ATS-friendly mean?
An ATS is the software companies use to collect and rank applications. It reads resumes best when they are single-column text with standard headings like SUMMARY, SKILLS, and EXPERIENCE. That is exactly what ResumeSkip outputs.
Can I use my LinkedIn profile instead of a PDF?
Yes. Copy the text from your LinkedIn profile and paste it in. We never connect to LinkedIn or ask you to log in there.
Is my resume shared or used to train anything?
No. Your resume stays in your private workspace unless you create a share link. We do not use your resume content to train models. Documents are generated through a third-party provider, used solely to produce your file.
Which resume formats can I upload?
PDF, DOCX, RTF, and plain text (including Markdown). Your file is parsed on your own device. Older .doc files need to be re-saved as .docx first.
What's included besides a tailored resume?
Cover letters, interview prep, and the History Quiz are part of Pro and the 7-day pass. Every plan, including Free, includes Word, PDF, and text downloads, the application tracker, and the browser extension.
Is there a browser extension available?
Yes. The ResumeSkip extension is fully released on the Chrome Web Store for Google Chrome, Brave, Microsoft Edge, and all Chromium browsers, and on Firefox Add-ons for Mozilla Firefox. It lets you tailor resumes and check match scores directly on LinkedIn, Greenhouse, Lever, Workday, Indeed, and Ashby in one click without leaving the job posting.
How do billing and the 7-day pass work?
Pro is $9/month or $72/year, billed through Polar. Cancel anytime and keep access until the paid period ends. The 7-day pass is a one-time $4.99 payment for full Pro access. It never auto-renews.
